Before you start
Make sure:
- The main SKU has already been created in Warehouse.
- You know the alternative name or identifier that needs to point to the SKU.
- You have confirmed which Warehouse SKU the alias should be linked to.
What is a SKU alias?
A SKU alias is an alternative name or identifier that points to an existing
Warehouse SKU.
For example, the same physical product may be identified differently across
different sales channels:
| Product name or alias | Warehouse SKU |
|---|---|
| Car Sticker | CAR-001 |
| Car Vinyl | CAR-001 |
| Car Tag | CAR-001 |
1. Open SKU Aliases
Open SKU Aliases from the Products & SKUs area.
The screen displays the aliases that have already been configured in
Warehouse.
2. Create a new alias
Select the option to create a new SKU alias.
Enter the details for the alias.
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Alias Name | Enter the alternative product name or identifier that should be
recognised by Warehouse. |
| SKU | Select the existing Warehouse SKU that the alias should identify. |
| Description | Optionally add information explaining where or why the alias is used. |

3. Save the alias
Review the alias before saving.
Check that:
- The alias matches the alternative product name or identifier exactly.
- The correct Warehouse SKU has been selected.
- The description is clear where one has been entered.
Save the alias.
Warehouse can now associate that alias with the selected SKU.
Add multiple aliases to the same SKU
A product can have more than one alias when it is identified differently
across multiple systems or sales channels.
Create a separate alias for each alternative name and point each one to the
same Warehouse SKU.
For example:
| Source | Alias | Warehouse SKU |
|---|---|---|
| Shopify | Car Sticker | CAR-001 |
| WooCommerce | Car Vinyl | CAR-001 |
Manage an existing SKU alias
Review existing aliases whenever a product name or external identifier
changes.
You may need to update:
- The alias name.
- The Warehouse SKU it points to.
- The description explaining where the alias is used.
What happens next?
Once created, the alias provides Warehouse with another way to identify the
selected SKU.
This can help orders and product information from different sales channels
match the correct Warehouse product even when they use a different product
name or identifier.
