Use GTIN Containers to create and manage Global Trade Item Numbers associated with products in Warehouse.

GTINs provide a consistent way to identify products and packaging within your warehouse and connected supply-chain processes.

Before you start

Make sure:

  • The product or SKU you want to associate with the GTIN already exists.
  • You have the correct GTIN or barcode information available.
  • You know which product or part the GTIN should be linked to.
  • You have the relevant dimensions if they need to be recorded.

What is a GTIN?

A GTIN (Global Trade Item Number) is a standard identifier used to uniquely identify a product or packaging level.

In Warehouse, GTIN Containers can be used to associate that identifier with the relevant product and dimensional information.

Note: Make sure the GTIN is linked to the correct product before saving it, as the identifier may be used during scanning or other warehouse processes.

1. Open GTIN Containers

Open Manage GTIN Containers from the Products & SKUs area.

The screen displays GTIN containers that have already been configured in Warehouse.

4. Save the GTIN container

Review the information before saving.

Check that:

  • The GTIN code is correct.
  • The name clearly identifies the product or container.
  • The correct product or part has been selected.
  • The dimensions are correct where they have been entered.

Save the GTIN container.

It will now appear in the GTIN Container Management list.

Manage an existing GTIN container

Existing GTIN containers can be reviewed and updated from the GTIN Container Management screen.

Select the GTIN you want to manage to open its details.

Update the required information, then save the changes.

You may need to update:

  • The GTIN code.
  • The name.
  • The associated product or part.
  • The dimensional information.
Tip: Check how an existing GTIN is being used before changing its code or linked product.

What happens next?

Once created, the GTIN container is available in Warehouse with its associated product and dimensional information.

It can then be used wherever the configured GTIN information is required within your warehouse process.

Next step:
Review Create and manage SKUs if the main product information needs to be updated, or Set up containers and dimensions if additional packaging types need to be configured.
