What are Locations?
Locations within the warehouse play a crucial role in organizing and managing inventory efficiently. This document provides instructions on creating and managing locations, including shelves and bins, within the warehouse layout.
Creating a New Location
To create a new location, follow these steps:
1. Select the plus symbol located at the top left to access the detail menu.
2. Set the code and the name of the location. The code must be unique compared to any other location.
General
Configure general settings for the location
- Depot: Assign the location to a specific depot within the warehouse.
- Active: Specify if this location is an active one.
- Contract: Set the contract the location belongs to (optional).
Parent Location
If the location is a child location, specify the parent location here (optional).
Movements
Define movement-related parameters:
- Row: Set the row location (usually a letter).
- Shelf: Specify the shelf number within a bay.
- Bay: Set the bay number in the row.
- Pick: Indicate if the location is pickable.
- Place: Specify if items can be placed in this location.
- Replenish: Determine if this location is used to replenish other locations.
- Bulk: Specify if this location is a bulk location.
- Area: Set the area size of the location (optional).
Containers
Set the container type if specific billing is required for different containers.
Dimensions
Configure dimension-related limits for the location:
- Limit: Set the area limit for the location (optional).
- Units: Specify the unit limits that the location will accommodate (optional).
Financial
Manage financial aspects related to the location:
- Pick Charge: Specify if this location will have a pick charge (this pulls the charge set on the SKU).
- Place Charge: Set if the location has a place charge (this will pull from the charge set on the SKU).
- Nominal Code: Determine if the location charges are taxable or not.
Notes
Add optional notes or descriptions for the location.
Events
Configure events related to the location:
- Expires: Set the date when the location will no longer be active.
- Delete on Empty: Specify if the location should be removed once the stock is depleted (if set).
- Import: Indicates if the location was an imported location.
- Address: Displays the address line of the location.
